Participants will learn how diseases are transmitted and will discover preventative measures for limiting the spread of disease in child care facilities. Course content includes: proper hand washing, diapering procedures, and methods for sanitizing and disinfecting the classroom environment. Participants will also be able to identify symptoms of illness and understand the American Academy of Pediatrics' guidelines for exclusion of ill children. Proper procedures for administering, documenting, and storing medications are also addressed. This course covers the CCDF topics of "Prevention and control of infectious diseases" and "Administration of medication." This course aligns with CDA Subject Area 1 and is worth 0.2 CEU's.
